Allenco Units in Johnson County

Chesapeake's Allenco leases are near Burleson, TX just north of Hwy 174.

The 1H, 2H and 3H units have been drilled and completed. The 4-H unit (shown here) is currently being drilled.

Chesapeake's Edgecliff Drilling

Site of numerous Edgecliff permitted gas drills; including the D 1-H, 3-H and 5-H units, and the completed B 1-H unit.
Mountain Drilling Company continues the D 5-H drill. As mentioned in another post this type of rig employs an automated pipe handling system.
These transfer lines are being used to fracture an adjacent unit. This highly controversial method of releasing the gas from the shale has been both applauded and criticized. The controversy is over the contents of the frac fluids raising environmental concerns. Some say safe - others say danger. Your opinion is welcomed in the poll found on the home page.

Range Production's Fred Davis #1 Unit

This vertical well drilled by Range in the Denton County Barnett was completed in January 2007. The drillbit penetrated to a depth of 10,000 feet, beneath this rolling pasture land.

Ferguson B-2 Unit in Wise County

One of many Wise county Barnett wells, this vertical drill was completed over 5 1/2 years ago. This entrance to the unit is on Hwy 51, about 3 miles SW of Slidell, TX. Dallas Production has been an active driller in this area since 1979, according to TX/RRC records.

Union Drilling pushes pipe at Quicksiver's Gray 1-H unit in Hill County. The rig is on HCR 1120 approx. 2 miles NW of Blum, TX. This is currently the only drill in Hill county.

Sound barriers engulf Mountain Drilling's hydraulic drilling rig #4 in south Fort Worth, TX. This rig has a fully automated pipe handling system, which significantly reduces hazardous operations on the rig floor.

Quicksilver's Shelby 1H-2H Drill

PVR Gathering Pipeline in S. Central Hill County

This gathering complex was once home to three Duke lease flowmeters. PVR/Forest has removed some of the valves and meters from this system located on Hwy 22, between Hillsboro and Peoria.

Loose bolts are a sure sign that part of the gathering lines have been dismantled.

Aquilla Creek Below the Dam

The Corps of Engineers was releasing water from Lake Aquilla today. Looks like several folks on the bank were dropping a line into the rushing water.

The abundant rainfall received during the past several months has filled the lake to levels not seen since the heavy rains of 2007.
